From old uraemic toxins to new uraemic toxins: place of 'omics'
- Knowledge of pathophysiologically relevant mediators with significant organ effects in the uraemic milieu is essential to understand the damage-inducing mechanisms and prevent and treat this damage. Only a small proportion of these mediators have been identified.
Proteomics and metabolomics appear effective for profiling uraemic retention solutes to extend the list of uraemic toxins
